Update (10/23/23): The Career Exploration Series website has officially moved to here: https://mdandersonorg.sharepoint.com/teams/ORET/SitePages/Career-Exploration-Series.aspx.

Career Exploration is an online course designed to support postdoctoral fellows and GSBS students at MD Anderson in the career planning process. The course has live and asynchronous components including: (1) access to a variety of career planning resources, (2) career advising sessions, and (3) a monthly Career Exploration Series (invited panelists). For inquiries regarding this course, please contact the Office for Postdoctoral Fellows at ForPostdocs@mdanderson.org.

1) Career Planning Resources
The Office for Postdoctoral Fellows provides postdocs, GSBS students, and research alumni access to a variety of career planning resources such as Versatile PhD, or Lightcast's Analyst labor market database. Versatile PhD can be accessed by registering for an account on MD Anderson's Alumni Portal and navigating to the Resources tab. Access to Lightcast's Analyst can be arranged by making an appointment with the Office for Postdoctoral Fellows. For postdocs who would like to explore alternative career options, or would like to determine a secondary career path, we invite you to use AAAS' myIDP website/tool (for guidance, use the myIDP preparation document). To enhance utilization of the tool, schedule an advising appointment (see below) to discuss your career fit outcomes, and to develop a career training plan.

2) Career Advising
One-on-one career advising sessions are available through the Office for Postdoctoral Fellows and the GSBS Career Development Office. These sessions can be used to review your myIDP and develop a career training plan, to review career tools, or to discuss any other career development goals and opportunities.

3) Career Exploration Series (2022-23)-Scroll to Bottom for Schedule
The Career Exploration Series is a monthly panel discussion where we invite PhDs to discuss their professional journey after graduate and/or postdoctoral training. The one-hour webinar is led by facilitators from the Office for Postdoctoral Fellows and the GSBS Career Development Office. Trainees are invited to meet the panelists in 30-min breakouts immediately after the webinar. Career Exploration Series sessions are scheduled on third Fridays (or upon exceptions, the first or second Friday). Friday, 12:00-1:00 pm (webinar), 1:00-1:30 pm (breakouts), from Sept to May. Non-MD Anderson postdocs and grad students are welcome to join our webinars.
